This document is a product of the workshop held in February 2002 in Zimbabwe. Participants included a small group of experts in media, gender, HIV/AIDS and rights issues from IPS, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Health Action International (HAI), the Southern Africa AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS), The Child and Law Foundation, and the Psychology Unit of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Education. The objectives of the workshop were to: come up with an outline for the development of a training manual and module on Gender, HIV/AIDS and Rights; discuss a plan for the actual writing and production of the training manual; and discuss the development of methodologies and exercises specifically tailored to improving the media's skills in reporting on the links between gender, HIV/AIDS and rights.
