This doctoral research project explores the experiences of women growing older with HIV in London, United Kingdom. It has a specific focus on women and the gendered experiences of ageing with HIV, in terms of community, social support, and health care needs. The research uses a feminist methodology along with participatory and narrative methods.

This article explores the prevalence of intimate partner violence (IPV) among HIV-infected pregnant women in South Africa. It found that 21% of women reported experiencing one or more type of IPV in the last twelve months, and 48% of them reported experiencing two or more types of violence. This article evaluates the safety and efficacy of a vaginal ring containing dapivirine for the prevention of HIV infection in nearly 2,000 women of reproductive age from South Africa and Uganda. The study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and it found that the dapivirine ring was not associated with any safety concerns and was associated with a lower rate of HIV-1 infection than the placebo rate.

Many international and regional agreements have acknowledged the importance of promoting gender equality and human rights in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Programmes. This review used over 56 articles to identify research gaps in addressing the larger priority of integrating gender equality and human rights approaches into SRH programmes and policies.

This tool, developed by WHO, is designed especially for monitoring and evaluation specialists working on HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programs. It provides step-by-step guidance on how to ask questions about gender inequalities in relation to health; select gender-sensitive indicators; conduct gender analysis; and strengthen monitoring and evaluation systems for data collection that can be used for gender analysis.
