On World Contraception Day, the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) shared their latest research on products to protect women from HIV and unintended pregnancy to address overlapping sexual and reproductive health needs. IPM partnered with the Microbicide Trials Network to launch the first clinical trial of a three-month vaginal ring IPM designed to prevent both HIV and unintended pregnancy. The multipurpose ring is based on the same technology used to develop a monthly HIV prevention ring recently shown to safely reduce women’s HIV risk. With continued investment, prevention solutions such as these will save women's lives around the world and give them and their family a chance at healthy and productive futures. This year's World Contraception day motto at IPM is "It's Your Life, It's Your Future," speaking to the need to put women's health in their control and to improve their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
