Communities in Malawi's central region are being encouraged by the Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS in Malawi (COWLHA) to disseminate messages that will lead to the elimination of gender-based violence and HIV among women in the district. COWLHA is implementing a five-year project emphasizing women's empowerment to combat HIV. The organization has trained over 100 community action groups to help disseminate information on the effects of gender-based violence and its links to HIV.
