Malawi's government says it will work with all tribes in the country in making sure that all women and girls are free from practices that expose them to the risk of contracting HIV and AIDS. During a Ngoni cultural event, Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare Clement Mkumbwa said the time has come for all tribes to start respecting and valuing girls and women in the country. Minister Mkumbwa strongly spoke against harmful cultural norms that increase women and girls' chances of HIV infection and ending gender-based violence through national action plans and policies.
